Electricity
Every electricity plan in Ireland, and what it actually costs.
107 plans from 11 suppliers, re-checked against each supplier’s own price page (last checked 6 August). At typical usage the gap between cheapest and dearest is about €832 a year.
The cheapest unit rate is rarely the cheapest bill. Standing charges alone vary by about €237 a year between suppliers, every discount below applies to the unit rate and not the standing charge, and every one runs for twelve months and then stops. Change the usage below and the order changes with it — there is no cheapest plan, only a cheapest plan for a given household.

How these figures are worked out
The same way we’d work out yours: the selected usage against each plan’s real unit rates, standing charge, PSO levy and discount, over that plan’s own contract term rather than a fixed period. Time-of-use plans are costed against a real household’s half-hourly meter shape, which is why the EV option moves them so much.
Prices are new-customer rates, which is what every comparison site quotes. If you’re already with a supplier that price usually isn’t open to you — but it’s the number to quote when you ring them. Discounts assume you pay by direct debit with online billing, which nearly all of them require.
